Intimacy chair was a three hour performance in a small room built in the artist's studio. Participants entered the room one by one and had a private conversation back to back with the artist.
Participants were able to see the artist's face through a TV monitor that displayed a live feed from a video camera. However, the artist was unable to see the participant's faces. Topics discussed were guided by the participant and included: power relationships during conversation, facial expressions, the ability to gaze at others or not depending on gender, race, and age, the feeling of body to body contact during conversation.
